From: Rainbow News Magazine (NZ),
Award-winning visionary artist Elizabeth Kyle has now created a fabulous new work of art – on her 1994 Ford Laser Liata!

“The idea of showing my art on my car appealed to me,” says Elizabeth, “especially as the bonnet was peeling and desperately in need of a repaint. I had no idea if it was feasible to use acrylic paint and a brush to paint a vehicle, but I really had nothing to lose.”
Over the next four months, Elizabeth proceeded to paint her artwork on all sides of the car, much of the work completed in her tiny flat after removal of the bonnet, doors, bumpers and mudguards. “It was so exciting when the re-assembly took place, and especially when clear-coating made the artwork rich and alive,” says Elizabeth.
The painting around the car is full of symbolism. For example, the left (driver’s) side is the male side of the car, suggesting intellect, logic, leadership and power – it features horses, lions, a Maori warrior, the Sun and day. The right (passenger) side of the car is about feminine aspects of intuition, imagination, nurturing, love and creativity – it features Merlin, a castle, unicorns, the Moon and night.
The black lower area of the car merges into gorgeous chameleon paint which turns green, blue, pink, purple and gold depending on the viewing angle, merging into a gold roof. The car also features black mag wheels with armour-like silver highlights and a black number plate with QE3 in gold.
Elizabeth spent a further month decorating the inside of the car in black velvet upholstery, trimmed with fringes and tassels, and a bejewelled horn. A ceiling chandelier surrounded by six angels, three images of Queen Elizabeth The First, and 180 solar-powered led lights complete the picture. Elizabeth also intends to have blue lighting attached under the car, for use only when parked.
“I now drive more carefully and wash my car so often,” it’s like having a high-maintenance friend, says Elizabeth
. “However,” she adds, “it brings joy wherever it’s parked. I often return to find a group of car admirers surrounding it!

I am presently creating an Oracle card deck. It incorporates 80 cards and I have 23 still to create. I have enlisted the help of my dear friend, Elizabeth Soltau, who has studied Tarot and Oracle cards for many years. Between us we are endeavouring to create a visually exciting set, rich in symbolism, which delivers very precise answers, in a unique but simple way.
